Queen's Hall Theatre - Front of House/ Bar Staff (18+)

Queen’s Hall Theatre – Front of House / Bar Staff (18+)

Age requirement: 18+

If you love being part of something that feels special, where an evening is more than just an event, then we’d love to hear from you. At Cranbrook School, our Queen’s Hall Theatre is where performances, talks, and community moments come to life. We’re looking for friendly, confident Front of House / Bar Staff to help us deliver a warm welcome, a smooth bar service, and a safe, well-run hospitality experience for every guest.

You’ll be the person guests remember for the right reasons: polite, alert, and ready to help. Whether you’re greeting visitors at the door, managing queues, taking payments, serving or keeping the bar area tidy and running to plan, you’ll play a key part in setting the tone for a great night out.

What you’ll be doing

  • Front of House welcome: greeting guests, checking in where needed, answering basic queries, and signposting visitors calmly and clearly.
  • Bar service: preparing and serving drinks to a high standard, handling cash/card transactions accurately, and ensuring responsible service of alcohol (18+).
  • Customer service that feels personal: being friendly, approachable, and proactive—especially during busy intervals and changeovers.
  • Supporting smooth event flow: working alongside the wider team to keep queues moving and help events run on time.
  • Keeping standards high: maintaining cleanliness around the bar and front-of-house areas, following venue procedures, and carrying out basic checks and replenishment.
  • Safety and wellbeing: looking out for guests, following safeguarding and health & safety guidance, and reporting any concerns promptly to the relevant lead.

What we’re looking for

  • 18 years or older (due to the bar element of the role).
  • Previous customer-facing experience is helpful, but not essential—what matters most is your attitude, reliability, and confidence with people.
  • Strong communication skills: you can explain information clearly, deal politely with questions, and stay calm under pressure.
  • Comfort in a busy environment: events can be lively—your focus stays on service, speed, and accuracy.
  • Trustworthy and responsible: you understand that alcohol service requires care, discretion, and good judgement.
  • A team mindset: you’ll work well with others and take pride in the venue being ready for guests.

Why you’ll enjoy this role

  • Make every evening matter: your work directly shapes how guests experience theatre nights—before the first curtain and after the final applause.
  • A welcoming, community feel: you’ll be part of a team that values warmth, professionalism, and respect for others.
  • Variety and atmosphere: theatre events bring different rhythms—intervals, pre-show arrivals, and special occasions that keep things engaging.

Hours and availability

Queen’s Hall Theatre events run throughout the year, and shifts may include evenings and occasional weekends, depending on the programme. We welcome candidates who can be flexible and committed to covering scheduled event requirements.
